Chief of Police
Chief of Police Joe Keegan is a distinguished law enforcement professional with a background deeply rooted in public service and a commitment to upholding the law. He began his career as a dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps, where he retired with the rank of Major, showcasing his strong leadership and discipline.
After his military service, Chief Keegan transitioned into civilian life and continued to serve his community as a patrol officer and detective within the Arlington Police Department. During his tenure there, he gained invaluable experience in various aspects of law enforcement, demonstrating his dedication to maintaining safety and order within the community.
Chief Keegan's dedication and exemplary performance led to his progression through the ranks, eventually culminating in his appointment as the Chief of Police at the Arp Police Department. His leadership and commitment were further exemplified during his time as a K9 handler, highlighting his hands-on experience and passion for ensuring the safety and security of his community.
Education plays a crucial role in Chief Keegan's career. He holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University, providing him with a solid foundation in the field. In addition to his undergraduate studies, he pursued higher education to enhance his knowledge and skills. Chief Keegan earned a Master's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Executive Management from Walden University, emphasizing his commitment to professional development and effective law enforcement leadership.
Furthermore, Chief Keegan is the current President of the East Texas Police Chief’s Association, a position that reflects his leadership and recognition among his peers in the law enforcement community.
